[come along] (mp3)
Come Along. not much too say. i like it; it needs some work. will do. ALBUM COMING OUT MID SUMMER!

[start all over] (mp3)
this one is old. it was my "opener" at my solo shows. it was written in '95 and i'd actually kinda forgotten about it (hopefully that doesn't lend credence to any sort of lameness :) ) anyway, i was "re-learning" it the other night and elaina was listening and said how much she liked it... so i figured it'd be a good recording project. i'm quasi-happy with the outcome. note: sage is sitting next to me during the recording of the acoustic lines and if you listen closely, she's tapping the beat on her legs. FURTHER NOTE: when it came time to record the vocals, as "me/i" was/were yelling into the mic, sage was freaked and left the room (due to the fact that she lacked the benefit of "headphones" and background tracks to the entire illusion. she merely looked at me and heard her dad YELLING at a can and was like, "what the hey?" and was OUTTA there.
let me know what you [think.]

[Blessing] (mp3)
Instrumental in the shredder variety. Not quite my realm of expertice (obviously, listen to the tanked notes) however, it was fun to play and i really really like the hook and melody. can you find it? i'd like to hear what you [think.]

these are QUITE lo-fi-- and not in a good way i'm afraid. mostly mono, or bad mixes, as i'm realigning myself to my new audio setup (the rca input firewire finally died...)-- anyway, i look at these as sketches, thumbnails AT BEST, so take that for what it's worth-- DEMOS (tests&attempts.) enjoy :)

jevette band demos - winter 2001

::both of these songs were recorded by me at our rehearsal space... sound is quasi-okay, but not too shabby for 3 room mics and a four-track-- all recorded live. yes, i played funk guitar for a stint. it was a great learning experience. sorry the songs are so long and hence, so big to download. but i appreciate you :)) you'll notice the sound of this stuff is WAY different than what i play normally... and that was the point... i wanted to broaden my horizons for a bit. it was fun::

[why's it so hot today*] (mp3)
this was just about my favorite song to play live ever, at least with this band. well, this and standing in line. it was super easy, sort of a lenny kravitz-ish 3-chord funk that was so great because our drummer knew what he was doing. we hit parts together at the end

[standing in line*] (mp3)
this song i loved the most... that's me with the CRUNCHY tone... me and susan and ryan (bass player and drummer) were always so in sync on this song... loved to play this live to-- where it breaks into the "chorus" and has the pregnant pause, that's where i used to jump like pete townshend. hahahahahaha//

solo acoustic stuff - circa 2000

[bottlecaps] (mp3)
this was done solo at club dada in deep ellum, spring 2000. there's an older, full band version down below.

[either way] (mp3)
cheezy? yes. but i always liked the message.

[be okay] (mp3)
a song for the jilted; and it's cheesy too. but it makes 100,000x more sense now than when i wrote it. ironic.

old stuff - circa '91-'95

[treehouse]
(mp3)
one of my first home recordings ("yeah's" annoy me too. rock on.)

[staythesame*] (mp3)
this was one of my favorite songs of the era. again, penned and sung by ken. the quality is not good (of this recording-- but i put it here for posterity.) regardless, the REAL version (i have a live video somewhere, and also from memory) is WAY tighter... but this version is a REALLY tight SUPERCHUNK emulation. i like superchunk. i think we all did. something kinda cool to me, now at least, is this::

[staythesame*] where we were actually working through the song as a BAND for first time.

[neighborhood crush*] (mp3)
recorded spring 1995 at UT -- rocketfuel sodapop song. ken green sang and created this wonderful song. justin played drums and i added electricity or harmonics, or something. this was actually played on the radio at ut or some station thereabout for a while i think... i have it on tape somewhere. anyway, this song i love.

[i dont like you*] (mp3)
recorded spring 1995 at UT -- rocketfuel sodapop song. ken green sang and created this wonderful song-- again ;) justin played drums and i added a WAY FLAMING LIPS RIPPOFISH slideguitar extraveganza. or something.

[bottlecaps] (mp3)
this was recorded live with the band i was in at the time, rocketfuel sodapop. the quality is poor due to the fact that it was dumped to digital from a severely worn out cassette, and the vocals as well because i can't really sing,... and i had a severe head cold.

[sometimes*] (mp3)
this was recorded late spring of '95 at a.r.c.-- a session recorded with a 4-track during rehearsal... and one of the few recordings of the era with our bass player. i honestly can't remember what the name of this song was, but "sometimes" sounds good.

[never titled] (mp3)
i really liked this song, but i could never come up with a vocal melody to go with it, hence, no vocals. this was recorded by myself in my dorm-room on a sunday afternoon in 1995.
